The concept of quantum simulation, first proposed in 1980s, continues to inspire a wide range of studies. It connects diverse fields of Physics such as quantum information, quantum optics, condensed matter physics, and high-energy physics. These concepts merge naturally into the general development of quantum devices, including solid state quantum systems, cavity QED, trapped ions, cold atoms and molecules. Such platforms provide a broad range of playgrounds in which to investigate many-body and non-equilibrium phenomena which are hard to study in the laboratory and often impossible to model with a supercomputer.

The Peng-Huan-Wu Research Center of the Institute of Theoretical Physics, CAS, is going to host a program on “Quantum simulations and quantum devices 2019” and aims to bring together leading scientists at the forefront of quantum simulation and quantum devices, to discuss recent progress and new directions in this interdisciplinary field.

The workshop will take place on November 18-23, where the first three days will be reserved to introductory tutorials aimed to students and young researchers. Cutting–edge research topics will be covered by invited and contributed talks over the remaining days of the conference.

All researchers who are interested in it are welcome to attend. There is no registration fee. Limited financial support will be offered only to the invited speakers.
