Description

Scalar-induced gravitational waves provide a unique probe of enhanced primordial fluctuations and primordial black holes (PBHs). I will first address the longstanding gauge issue in the definition of induced gravitational waves, presenting a gauge-invariant calculation of the observable second-order gravitational-wave strain. I will then discuss the induced gravitational-wave signal associated with PBH dark matter in space-based detectors. We find that Taiji can probe the entire remaining asteroid-mass window in which PBHs may constitute dark matter, with a signal-to-noise ratio up to 10^{3~4}.
