The 7th Peng Huanwu Young Scientists' Forum on Theoretical Physics and Interdisciplinary Studies

The Institute of Theoretical Physics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (ITP-CAS) was founded in 1978. The ITP-CAS focuses on theoretical studies in almost all fields of physics and some interdisciplinary fields of physics and other branches of science. The ITP-CAS plays roles not only as a research center of excellence but also as an open platform for productive scientific exchanges and collaborations for scientists, postdocs and students from all over the world. The ITP-CAS is “open” to all visitors under various visiting programs of the Peng Huan-Wu Innovation Research Center for Theoretical Physics supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China.

We would like to invite all young scientists from home and abroad to participate in the 7th Peng Huanwu Young Scientists' Forum on Theoretical Physics and Interdisciplinary Studies, which will be held in Beijing, China, from Feb. 8- Feb. 10, 2026. The forum is organized by the ITP-CAS and is open to all theoretical physicists at age 40 or younger. The aim of this forum is to hold special reports, academic seminars and talent negotiations in order to promote academic exchanges and cooperation, and attract outstanding young talents.

The main topics of the forum cover:

1. Theoretical Particle Physics and Nuclear Physics

2. Quantum Field Theory and Superstring Theory

3. Gravitational Theory, Astrophysics and Cosmology

4. Statistical Physics, Theoretical Biophysics and Bioinformatics

5. Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics

6. Quantum Physics, Quantum Information and Theory of Light-Matter Interaction

7. Theory of Strong Laser-Matter Interaction

8. Integration of Theoretical Physics and AI, as well as Emerging and Interdisciplinary Fields of Theoretical Physics

Young talents specializing in particle physics, quantum physics, theory of strong laser-matter interaction, and emerging and interdisciplinary directions in theoretical physics are particularly encouraged to apply.

We encourage all young scientists involved in these research areas to apply through the link: https://indico.itp.ac.cn/event/398/

The deadline for application is Jan. 15, 2026. All applications will be evaluated by the selection committee consisting of leading experts, and the accepted participants will receive official invitation letters from the ITP-CAS.

The ITP-CAS will provide financial support to cover the accepted participants' travel (economy class) and local expenses. A Best Presentation Award will be given in the forum based on the assessment of the audiences.

Please feel free to contact Ms. Li Wang (wangli@itp.ac.cn) for more information. We look forward to your participation in the 7th Young Scientists' Forum.
