摘要:
Lattice calculations are carried out in the Euclidean space and in a finite volume. Hence, a
direct calculation of the scattering observables (S-matrix elements) is not possible, as
manifested in the Maiani-Testa no-go theorem. The effective field theories provide a
systematic framework that allows one to circumvent the restrictions arising from this theorem.
In particular, in the two-particle sector, the Lüscher equation emerges that has become a
standard tool for the extraction of the scattering phase shift from the computed energy
spectrum on the lattice. A similar effective field theory framework can be formulated in
the three-particle sector, and a systematic procedure for the extraction of the observables
can be set up. In my talk, I shall mainly focus on the latest results in the three-particle
sector, namely, on a fully relativistic-invariant formulation of the three-particle
quantization condition and the extraction of the three-particle decay amplitude from
lattice data.
