QCD predicts that the hadron mass comes from not only the quark through the Higgs coupling, but also the massless gluon through the trace anomaly of QCD energy momentum tensor. It is a highly non-trivial prediction since the gluon trace anomaly inside the pion and nucleon are very different on both the magnitude and distribution. I will show the lattice QCD calculation of the trace anomaly contribution to the hadron mass, and how the trace anomaly distributes in the hadron.
