  for studying the strong interactions and plays an important role in the p
 recision determination of Standard Model parameters. This talk will review
  the determination of renormalized light and heavy quark masses\, and disc
 uss how lattice QCD calculations of hadronic decay matrix elements enable 
 precise extractions of CKM matrix elements. Particular emphasis will be pl
 aced on recent results obtained with the CLQCD clover ensembles\, illustra
 ting their contributions to precision flavor physics and tests of the Stan
