DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Yifan Chen (Tsung-Dao Lee Institute)\nUltralight bos
ons near compact objects can form gravitationally bound states\, some of w
hich grow exponentially by extracting black hole rotational energy or thro
ugh relaxation from ambient waves. These states can reach field amplitudes
approaching the Planck scale\, leading to non-perturbative phenomena anal
ogous to early-universe cosmology and to observational signatures far stro
nger than those from local dark matter detection\, including electromagnet
ic features in black hole imaging and gravitational-wave imprints of the s
urrounding environment. Two examples of strong-field phenomena will be dis
cussed. First\, accreting axion clouds can enter a saturation regime in wh
ich the field approaches the decay constant\, with relativistic axion emis
sion balancing the accretion and encoding the underlying self-interactions
. Second\, high-energy neutrinos propagating through a dense scalar backgr
ound with non-diagonal couplings can undergo parametric resonance\, leadin
g to distortions in the observed flavor ratios.\n\nhttps://indico.itp.ac.c
