Abstract: Recent cosmological observations, such as the SHOES measurement of the Hubble constant and the DESI BAO, have arouse interest in the study of dynamical dark energy (DE) and modified gravity (MG). In this talk I will present the state-of-the-art Einstein-Boltzmann code, HEFTCAMB, to confront DE/MG theories with cosmological observations. HEFTCAMB can compute the background and linear perturbation cosmology with DE/MG described by either an effective field theory (EFT) Lagragian or a general covariant Horndeski Lagragian. I will demonstrate its application to recent observations in both the EFT and covariant Horndeski formalisms.

Bio: Dr. Gen Ye got his Bachelor's degree in 2018 and Ph.D. in 2022 under the supervision of Prof. Yun-Song Piao at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, then moved to Leiden University as a postdoctoral researcher. His research interest lies in probing the fundamental laws of physics with cosmological observations, with an emphasis on gravity and the cosmological tensions. His recent research uncovered evidence of modification to general relativity in the new cosmological observations,
